Have You Seen Treco’s New RHI Pages?

Friday, June 22nd, 2012

We’ve been encouraged to see that 99% of installed capacity and 91% of projects are solid biomass and to see Treco’s Biocom 198kW installation at Dumbleton Hall Hotel gain accreditation this week.

In case you haven’t already checked it out, we have recently added a wealth of content to the all-new RHI pages on our website

What We Have Included

You can now find out how to use Treco’s RHI Calculator, download it for free and see how much you could make from the Commercial RHI.

There is also a summary of the entire volumes 1 & 2 of the RHI Guidance, which crunches the OFGEM document from 230 pages to just 15, and which focuses just on biomass applications and is available as a pdf to download for free. We’ve had some great feedback on how much time this has saved people on their biomass boiler applications, so do take a look!

We’ve also added information on RHI Eligibility Requirements for Biomass, “How to Make an RHI Biomass Application” and “10 Things You Need to Know”.

With so much confusion about RHI biomass metering, we’ve also included information on the RHI Eligible heat meters we supply and summaries of the RHI Guidance on Metering for RHI Biomass applications.

Surge in Scottish Biomass Market

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Following TRECO General Manager Carl Young’s participation in the Low Carbon Building Programme Regional Events held across the UK, but particularly popular in Edinburgh where over 100 attended, TRECO is now responding to a flurry of installation quotation requests from North of the Border!

That being the case we have noted the Scottish Government has announced a further funding incentive for companies and district heating projects to switch to Biomass under the Scottish Biomass Heating Scheme (SBHS). However, the closing date for applications is mid February, so if you are based in Scotland then read on….

The £3.3 million Scottish Biomass Heat Scheme is Scotland-wide, funded by Scottish Government, Forestry Commission Scotland and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The SBHS provides grants for the installation of biomass heating systems in business premises and district heating demonstrators.

The SBHS provides support for small-medium sized enterprises, and is restricted to heat-only biomass applications.

The Scottish Government particularly welcomes applications for district heating demonstrators from private developers. Priority will be given to businesses who are not eligible for other funding streams, such as the Scotland Rural Development Programme.

There is an initial enquiry form to log your interest and obtain further guidance from the SBHS team and early contact is advised to clarify eligibility and outline your project’s scope.

The closing date for applications is the 12th February 2010.

Dull…? I don’t think so!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

That clever cat Jonathon Porritt from the BBC news blog has hit the nail on the head… Sustainable development IS BIG not BORING!!  And I have to say I totally agree- ‘Sustainable development is NOT a “boring catch-phrase for sad gits with nothing better to do with their lives”.

In this week’s Green Room, he explains why it holds the key to a better future, and why politicians ignore it at their peril.’ And I am, as he is, biased because of the industry that I work in, but I too cannot help but wonder how much longer politicians will go on ignoring the overwhelming benefits of using sustainable development.

The NIMTO (Not In My Term of Office) attitutde however IS incredibly boring… an attitude which has been propped up and fueled in too many years and PM’s. The press and ‘Stern Review’ did help push this along and weigh up the cost on not investing in a sustainable future. And things are changing… just slowly… I think secretly renewable energy and investing in a sustainable future is just a lot of ear ache for all governments that have had to tackle it.

Well they better get on with it… otherwise there’s going to be a whole lot more coming your way Gord!

Britain’s new budget… Over 2 Billion for Renewable Energy!

A Very flowery looking TRECO Tatano boiler

A Very flowery looking TRECO Tatano boiler

(Fairly irrelevant picture I know… but I think we’ve all seen enough of that Gordon Brown character and his crew… So you can have a look at one of our lovely boilers instead!)

Britain commits to cut carbon emissions by 34% by 2020

• An extra £1bn to help combat climate change by supporting low-carbon industries

• £525m for offshore wind projects over the next two years

£435m support for energy efficiency schemes for homes, firms and public buildings

£405m to encourage low-carbon energy and advanced green manufacturing

Totaling £2.365 Bn… a much needed boost for the industry. We are just going to have to wait and see how readily available they make the investment for grants so domestic customers & commercial projects benefit (quickly!).

Church Biomass Boiler Installation…

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

GULWORTHY Church

BOILER:  Guntamatic Biocom 50

The Church needed to install a new boiler and originally considered the fossil fuel route. How-

ever, having ventured further into the project they realised a biomass alternative would not only

be more cost effective but also beneficial to the environment. The church was not well insulated

and there were no records of previous oil usage (because there had been no boiler) so TRECO

arranged a site survey in order to make the right recommendations. With the relevant informa-

tion gathered TRECO designed, constructed and installed a TRECOPod Special specifically for the

church. This was situated adjacent to the rear wall of the church and designed as not to interfere

with the architecture of the building.

They also received a hefty grant (around approx 80%) for their greener ways… what could be better??!! (well… probably 100%… but you can’t have it all…)

QUOTE from the Church: “The TRECO Team are very approachable, easy to talk to and couldn’t be nicer people to work with. A lot of the time we didn’t know what questions to ask, but the TRECO Team helped us brilliantly!”
