Guntamatic - No Smoke but Plenty of Fire

added november 9th 2009

The Guntamatic range of biomass boilers supplied by TRECO have passed recent testing under the Clean Air Act 1993 to confirm that they are capable of burning fuels with minimal smoke emissions.

The Guntamatic boilers have been granted “Exempt Appliance” status and will be listed on the website for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs and the Devolved Administrations www.uksmokecontrolareas.co.uk/appliances.php

Exempt appliances are appliances (ovens, wood burners and stoves) which have been exempted by Statutory Instruments (Orders) under the Clean Air Act 1993 or Clean Air (Northern Ireland) Order 1981. These have passed tests to confirm that they are capable of burning an unauthorised or inherently smoky solid fuel with minimal smoke emissions.

Under the Clean Air Act 1993 local authorities may declare the whole or part of the district of the authority to be a smoke control area. With exempt appliance status the Guntamatics can be installed in designated smoke control areas.

Gordon Traill, Director of Treco said “The Guntamatics have won several European Awards for their innovative design, efficiency and ability to burn with negligible smoke outputs but it is fantastic to have the UK’s legislation recognizing that capability and endorsing Guntamatic for use in smoke control areas across the country.”
