The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy recently released its Biomass Policy Statement. This sets out its strategic aims for the role of biomass across the country in the medium and long term to help achieve net zero. The document sets out:
- Principles for the use of biomass in the medium and long term.
- The use of sustainable biomass in electricity, heat and transport
- Views on bioenergy with carbon capture
- A summary of research and innovation gaps that need to be addressed, as well as planned projects
